Marvin: Hey, folks, it's Marvin Cash, the host of the Articulate Fly,

Speaker:

Marvin: and we're back with another Roosh Report with the man himself,

Speaker:

Marvin: Brendan Roosh. Brendan, how are you?

Speaker:

Brendan : I'm doing well. Back in the heat wave. Got a face full of sunscreen,

Speaker:

Brendan : but doing well. How are you doing?

Speaker:

Marvin: I'm just trying to stay out of trouble and, you know, digging out from goofing

Speaker:

Marvin: off a little bit earlier and trying to clear the deck for the holiday weekend.

Speaker:

Brendan : There you go. Yeah, it's good to get your jollies out before the holiday weekend.

Speaker:

Marvin: Yeah, so that you can do yard work and, you know, go to Bed Bath & Beyond and Home Depot, right?

Speaker:

Brendan : Oh, yeah.

Speaker:

Marvin: You know, I may not have enough time to get it all in. You know what I'm saying?

Speaker:

Brendan : Yeah, that's good, man.

Speaker:

Marvin: So, you know, looking at your weather like I always do, you know,

Speaker:

Marvin: you're cooler than you were.

Speaker:

Marvin: You're warming up a little bit, and you got a little bit of rain next week.

Speaker:

Marvin: You know not a lot but um you know what is that converting to on the water for you.

Speaker:

Brendan : Uh so this past week i guess

Speaker:

Brendan : last week now at this point um we were wearing jackets in the morning and it

Speaker:

Brendan : would kind of the fog would burn off and it was nice uh fishing bait fish and

Speaker:

Brendan : tail outs crate fish um poppers in the afternoon it would definitely start to

Speaker:

Brendan : heat up see some damsels out in the afternoon.

Speaker:

Brendan : And then we went back into full summer, fishing, you know, 87 to 89 degrees

Speaker:

Brendan : towards the end of the day and slapping bugs down, letting them sit.

Speaker:

Brendan : And big fish were very happy to comply and come up and sip towards the end of

Speaker:

Brendan : the last week. It was definitely, definitely a good week.

Speaker:

Marvin: Yeah. And so before I forget, I know you had a stream cleanup with the Delaware

Speaker:

Marvin: River Club. Did you get any tattoos?

Speaker:

Brendan : Tattoos no no one had a tattoo machine going surprisingly but uh yeah it was a great time um,

Speaker:

Brendan : i had the the easiest job of being in a drift boat and uh just kind of rode

Speaker:

Brendan : my buddy's drift boat around with some trash in it but yeah there were so many

Speaker:

Brendan : volunteers that were on kayaks and canoes that were finding the tires finding

Speaker:

Brendan : the you know the metal objects and helping put them and drift boats.

Speaker:

Brendan : So I think it's a really great event and there's a lot of hard work that went into it.

Speaker:

Brendan : And the after parties, Friday and Saturday nights, were really fun and very wholesome.

Speaker:

Marvin: There you go. And any idea, kind of from a tonnage perspective,

Speaker:

Marvin: how much trash you guys picked up?

Speaker:

Brendan : You know, I wish I knew that. It would be, it is on the Delaware River Club's

Speaker:

Brendan : Instagram page. I just don't know off the top of my head.

Speaker:

Marvin: Well, I'll drop that in the show notes so people can check that out.

Speaker:

Marvin: And got a couple questions for you. The fun question is from Pintas Fish and

Speaker:

Marvin: he wanted to know, are you willing to sell your fall fish taxidermy collection?

Speaker:

Brendan : You know, I think that's going to have to stay in the family,

Speaker:

Brendan : whether that's going to go to future children or maybe just to some close friends.

Speaker:

Brendan : They'll definitely be in the will, but definitely I'm not selling them. No way.

Speaker:

Marvin: Yeah, so how many do you have?

Speaker:

Brendan : Right now I have a baker's dozen, but there's still room for that 20-incher.

Speaker:

Brendan : I'm really going for it. um you know throwing a lot of casts out there just

Speaker:

Brendan : kind of praying that one of these times it's going to be a 20 inch ball fish instead of 20 inch bass.

Speaker:

Marvin: Yeah well you know if you start throwing like uh number two jighead pheasant

Speaker:

Marvin: tails that you should get hooked up yeah.

Speaker:

Brendan : I mean i i'm tied some clauser manos just for ball fish really so hopefully

Speaker:

Brendan : they'll they'll pay off for me.

Speaker:

Marvin: Yeah well there you go i got a question uh from brendan for you he wanted to

Speaker:

Marvin: get your thoughts on how you attack fishing when the water temperatures are

Speaker:

Marvin: swinging high to low and back to high again.

Speaker:

Brendan : Um if the swings don't totally turn the fish off uh for like brief windows um

Speaker:

Brendan : like there's definitely a chance where you go out and it was like crazy cold

Speaker:

Brendan : the night before compared to the

Speaker:

Brendan : night prior to that um sometimes they just they won't really be eating they'll

Speaker:

Brendan : be kind of passive uh other times you know you can find fish willing to eat

Speaker:

Brendan : mostly going to be subsurface like if it happens in the summertime, like we had last week,

Speaker:

Brendan : just finding fish in more ambushy, kind of quicker water.

Speaker:

Brendan : And we did have lulls the first 45 minutes, hour of the day before the fog burned off.

Speaker:

Brendan : It wasn't a great morning by any means, but as the temperature kind of started to switch,

Speaker:

Brendan : that's when the more like fall-type tactics were paying off,

Speaker:

Brendan : like bait fish or uh crayfish patterns and faster faster current adjacent to

Speaker:

Brendan : boulders and things like that um and then typically when you have those radical

Speaker:

Brendan : swings it's still going to be,

Speaker:

Brendan : relatively normal um in the heat of the day like

Speaker:

Brendan : we experience this week and we're going to experience next week um so then you

Speaker:

Brendan : just kind of transition into you know your your bug slash popper fishing as

Speaker:

Brendan : you start to see fish maybe eat your streamer hits the water or you start to

Speaker:

Brendan : see some fish rising around you got.

Speaker:

Marvin: It and you know folks we love questions on the articulate fly you can email

Speaker:

Marvin: them to us or dm us on social media whatever is easiest for you and if we use

Speaker:

Marvin: your question i will send you some articulate fly swag and then we're going

Speaker:

Marvin: to enter you in a drawing for a swag pack from brendan himself you've got you

Speaker:

Marvin: know ruchangling stuff you got log jam stuff and you got housefly stuff right.

Speaker:

Brendan : Yeah it's gonna be a good prize pack for sure yeah all the homies yeah.

Speaker:

Marvin: Do you have any uh of those uh like uh cracker jack box tattoos to go in that.

Speaker:

Brendan : Um, yeah, I have some, some Lincoln Bruce shangling tattoos and,

Speaker:

Brendan : um, I have a couple of copies of, uh, the, the toad tattoo I got at Edison last

Speaker:

Brendan : year. We're going to give them out as well.

Speaker:

Marvin: Yeah. Well, there you go. And, you know, as we're, uh, you know,

Speaker:

Marvin: things are starting to kind of cool off and the seasons are changing,

Speaker:

Marvin: you know, I imagine you're kind of, you know, booking the back end of your,

Speaker:

Marvin: uh, Pennsylvania smallmouth season, but I know you're going to come down to

Speaker:

Marvin: Virginia and do a little musky fishing.

Speaker:

Marvin: You want to let folks know kind of what you have available and how to reach out and get on the books.

Speaker:

Brendan : Yeah so for the next couple weeks i have um september 5th and 12th and october

Speaker:

Brendan : i have quite a bit of availability um if you want to get out and do some smallmouth streamer fishing,

Speaker:

Brendan : fish can follow feedback on um i also,

Speaker:

Brendan : i feel a little nervous saying this but i just picked up my jet boat today from

Speaker:

Brendan : uh from the jet boat doctor and that may be in play in October kind of fishing

Speaker:

Brendan : more of the big river stuff, faster current, bigger flies,

Speaker:

Brendan : bigger fish, cold water.

Speaker:

Brendan : And as far as the Virginia stuff, you can just reach out.

Speaker:

Brendan : I'll be doing block dates down there cause I won't be down there the whole season,

Speaker:

Brendan : but feel free to reach out at Brendan Roosh on Instagram, ruchangling on facebook
